New Twist : D K Shivakumar Explodes 'Political' Bomb on BJP
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore
Bangalore, May 19 : In a remarkable development to the ongoing political crisis in Karnataka state, former working state Congress president D K Shivakumar has exploded a 'political' bomb claiming that some of the top BJP leaders have telephoned him and asked him to step up the protest against state chief minister to ensure that Yeddyurappa resigns from his chair.
This has come as a surprise to everyone, as, every since the Supreme Court verdict emerged threatening to dismantle the state government, BJP has been insisting that it is united in the state. But now, D K Shivakumar is pointing fingers at senior BJP leaders from New Delhi who are supposedly putting pressure on Congress to up the ante against their own party. It is apparent that there are still differences among some of the top leaders and the state CM Yeddyurappa.
It may be recalled that MP Ananth Kumar was seen in the anti-Yeddyurappa group during the last dissident outburst in the state. Though Ananth Kumar was not openly opposed to the CM, it is a known fact that there is heavy difference between the two leaders.
However, D K Shivakumar has declined to name the BJP leaders behind the new twist in the story.
This development comes as another weapon for the state opposition which will be all too willing to take advantage of the situation.
The allegations have lent an interesting new angle to the present crisis which was beginning to evaporate, but now it will be interesting to wait and watch the state political development in next couple of days.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the central cabinet ministers met in New Delhi, but did not discuss any political issue regarding governor Bhardwaj's report. Though Yeddyurappa has given the ultimatum to governor, the central cabinet seems to have taken Yeddyurappa's threat lightly.
