Yeddy Gives ‘Open Call’ for Operation Lotus
Raichur, May 22 (DHNS): In what could be described as an open call for ‘Operation Lotus,’ Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has called upon BJP workers to bring all ‘good’ people in Congress and JD(S) into the BJP fold.
“The Congress and JD(S) activists are shunning the parties due to the conduct and attitude of their leaders. All good people in the two parties should be brought to BJP” Yeddyurappa said here on Saturday. He was addressing the party workers at the launch of ‘Recall Governor Save Democracy’ campaign in the city.
Yeddyurappa said Governor H R Bhardwaj, at the instigation of Opposition parties was out to displace an elected government to serve his selfish needs. Congress legislators had been blackmailing their high command with the threat of en masse resignation.
“And H D Deve Gowda suggests the Union government to remove me from power. It’s a shameless act,” the Chief Minister said in his yet another broadside.
Heavy price
He warned that heavy price would have to be paid for any attempt to dislodge a popular government.
Health Minister B Sriramulu said intellectuals, religious heads and litterateurs had chastised the Governor. He said he would not succeed in his second attempt to remove the BJP government. Lok Sabha member S Pakeerappa, legislator Manohar Maski and others were present.
‘Guv nurtures darbar ambition’
Earlier, speaking to reporters Yeddyrappa said Governor Bhardwaj nurtures an ambition to conduct his ‘darbar’ in Vidhana Soudha at least for six months.
The Chief Minister said the Governor had been giving pinpricks to the State government ever since he assumed office. “He does not want a stable BJP government in the State. He even put pressure on me by his frequent advice to dissolve the Assembly and seek a fresh mandate,” Yeddyurappa said. He charged the Governor of acting as a puppet in the hands of the Opposition.
The chief minister said he had confidence in the assurance of the Prime Minister of not taking any steps against the Constitution.
