Udupi, Dec 11: An undertrial prisoner ended his life in the sub jail of the district on Sunday December 11.
The deceased is identified as Sadananda Sherigar. He hanged himself at 5 am on Sunday. There were 20 prisoners in the room. Other prisoners removed the Sadananda from the noose and informed the matter to the jail authorities. However, Sadananda succumbed on the way to hospital.
Sadananda Sherigar of Karkala origin was a surveyor. He was the main accused in the murder case of a person who was killed by pouring petrol and torching the car. Sadananda had planned to kill somebody else by setting fire to the car and a person in it in order to appear to look like that he himself died in order to cover his financial frauds. The murder incident had taken place at Ottinene Henber at Shiroor, border of Udupi district in July earlier this year.
