Puttur: 16-year-old electrocuted by transformer, succumbs

Puttur, Dec 19: A high school student got electrocuted on the evening of December 17 at Badagannur, Ambatemoole.

The deceased is identified as Ranjit (16), son of Krishnappa Naik, who was working as a water maintenance worker in Badagannur gram panchayat.

Ranjit was found lying unconscious after receiving electric shock near a transformer at a little distance away from his home. When he was being taken to hospital, he died on the way. It is said a neighbour friend of Ranjit had taken him near the transformer to check as he did not have electricity at his home.

The parents of deceased Ranjit are daily wage labourers. His father Krishnappa Naik is suffering from heart ailment. Bypass surgery was slated to be conducted on him on December 20. The family is shocked due to the sudden demise of their son. Ranjit is survived by his parents and elder brother.

Sampya police have registered a case in this regard.
