Mangalore, May 25: City's Father Muller Medical College, which has been in the news over an admission row, has clarified its stand on the matter.
The Karnataka High Court on May 17 had passed an order directing Father Muller Medical College here to admit Rakesh Sera, a student from Vogga in Bantwal, to its postgraduate medical course. Sera had secured the 198th rank in Postgraduate Entrance Test conducted by COMED-K.
Dr Sera had alleged that he was denied admission under the quota meant for Christian students by the college.
Now, in a clarification to the media, Fr Muller administration has said that the College has admitted students to PG programme as per the guidelines issued by competent authorities. Regarding Dr Rakesh Sera's claim, it said that it was baseless and undermined the reputation of the institution.
"We neither select any candidate nor collect any tuition fees from any candidate selected through CET and COMED-K during admission. They are selected through centralized counseling at Bangalore. This year our permitted intake under COMED-K is only two Christian candidates. However, three candidates have been allotted the same two seats. We have admitted the two candidates who reported first," stated the media release.
