Mumbai, May 26 (PTI) In a bid to enhance the quality of education in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has decided to recommend setting up of IIM and Indian Institute of Information Technology in the state along with a centre of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Marathwada.
A proposal to this effect will be forwarded to the Centre, sources in the Higher and Technical Education Department said. Similarly, research scholarships will be provided to the students in all fields, they said.
Sources said that a centre of National Law University will also be sought for the state.
A proposal to set up eight new girls' hostels has also been cleared. Out of the total eight, two will be set up in Mumbai in the suburbs of 1,000 capacity.
