Mangaluru, Dec 28: Members of the Thokkottu Heddari Surakshatha Horata Samithi have condemned the delay in the work on the service road stretch from Thokkottu overbridge to Kumpala bypass. They also took a NHAI official to task at Thokkottu Kapikad on Wednesday, December 28.

The members of the Samithi have threatened to intensify their protests by closing the road if steps are not taken to resume work within the next two days.

Navayuga had started work on the project in October 2022 after the Samithi had put forth its demands. After completing 50% of the work, Navayuga has now stopped the work resulting in the delay in completion. As there is no service road, vehicles are forced to take a U-turn in Kapikad leading to several road mishaps and so far accidents on this stretch have claimed six lives.

The local MLA, MP and NHAI have called for a meeting with Navayuga and have ordered immediate resumption of work due to the protests.
