Mangalore: Blast at Bajpe ISPRL Unit, At Least Three Dead

Mangalore, May 26: A blast has been reported from Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL) unit of MSEZ in Bajpe here on Thursday May 26.
Three people have been killed and five others injured. Two of the deceased have been identified as Sirajuddin Katipalla and Saang,a Korean. The identity of the third victim has not yet been established, although it has been ascertained that he was a north Indian. The bodies have been shifted to Wenlock hospital in the city.
The injured have been admitted to Mangala hospital. They are Sheikh Abdul Gani from Kateel, a safety engineer, Vikram Das, Shivanath Chauhan and Lawrence Pereira. Another has been admitted at AJ Hospital.
Construction work on underground oil stocking was going on at the site. The blasting activities were scheduled to stop at 6 pm, but due to some reason they continued until 6.30 pm, the time of the incident.
Police and fire fighters rushed to the spot.
Police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh who was at the spot said that an inquiry will be ordered into the incident.
