Aspiring Students Throng Karavali College Placement Mela-2011

Mangalore, May 27: Karavali Placement Mela – 2011, a mega career placement drive organized by Karavali College at the College campus in Kottara Chowki here, kicked off on Friday May 27, with the first day attracting a huge number of job aspirants from various places like Mangalore, Udupi, Kasargod, Shimoga and Chikmagalur among others.
A whopping 12,480 students participated on the very first day, out of which as many as 3,228 got selected. The placement mela will continue on Saturday May 28 also.
The formal stage programme organized on the occasion was graced by Karavali Group chairman Ganesh Rao, director Latha G Rao, placement officer Zeshan and coordinator Samson John.
Ganesh Rao said Karavali College owes its success to the motivation and encouragement extended by all segments of the society. He called upon the students to establish deep bonds of human relations in order to lead a serene life. He said that initial days may seem to be tough for students, but that’s how one should achieve success. He said students should wipe out inferiority complex in them.
About placement mela he said the drive has received overwhelming response. Already 104 companies ranging from banking, engineering, BPO, KPO, IT, computer, insurance, automobile sales, marketing, auditing, ITES, logistics, pharmaceuticals, telecommunication, manufacturing, designing and garment industry, building, interior designing etc have come up to select the best from this venue. About 99 percent of the recruitment procedures take place at the selection venue itself, he added.
Free accommodation was arranged for the needy students from far away places. Ganesh Rao said the placement drive will be held every year.
L & T, Infotech, Mphasis, Robo Soft Technologies, HDFC, ICICI, Lombard, Tata Motors, CareerNet, IDBI, Pantaloons, Lifestyle, ICICI Prudential, Bajaj Allianz, Maruti Suzuki, Suvasu Solutions, Axix Bank, Future Generali, Future Group, Reliance Money, Star, Winman Software, Hyundai, Chevrolet, Ocean Pearl, Ford, Diya Systems and Goldfinch are among the 100 reputed companies participating in the job fair to fill 5,000 posts.
Students were seen submitting passport size photos, profiles and related documents for spot registration. Online registration and registration through SMS are other options available. Students from diiferent fields like engineering, polytechnic diploma, ITI, nursing, pharmacy, interior design, fashion design, BCA, BBM, BA, BSc, BCom, hospitality science, MSW, MBA, MCA, hotel management, BEd, DEd and those studying in the final years of diploma, degree and post graduation registered for this job fair.
As soon as the stage programme was over, students thronged the registration counters and started filling the registration forms.
