Bengaluru, Dec 31: Congress opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah has strongly condemned Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah’s suggestion for a tie up of the popular Nandini brand of milk products from Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) with Gujarat’s Amul brand as another attempt to loot State’s Milk producing farmers.
In a statement in Bengaluru on Saturday, the former Chief Minister accused the ruling BJP for destroying the popular banks from the State and harming the economy and said the Union Minister’s proposal for a marriage between Nandini and Amul brands was nothing but an attempt to cause grave injustice of 25 lac farmers, depending on dairy farming in the State.
The milk producing farmers in the State and their KMF is carrying out an annual turnover of Rs 20,000 crore and lakhs of families are depending on dairy farming in the State and the BJP wants to kill the goose laying golden eggs, he said.
Urging people to oppose and resist any attempts for the marriage of Nandini and Amul brands, Siddaramaiah said it would be a sell-out to the corporate bigwigs of Gujarat.
BJP wants to sell everything to Ambanis, Adanis
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah want to sell everything from airports to railways and harbours and other assets to the corporate bigwigs of Ambanis and Adanis,’’ he said accusing the BJP of killing the people during the Covid pandemic by denying oxygen cylinders
The former Chief Minister said the ruling BJP is out to harm the people through its communal agenda which has Hindu-Muslim enmity, corruption and dynasty politics as the three key aspects and the people need to be vigilant to defeat the divisive tendencies.
“The BJP nationalism is nothing but selling the country to corporate bigwigs like Ambanis and Adanis to loot the national assets,’’ he said charging that nothing moves in BJP without bribes and corruption as well as commission. The farmers are dejected and want to teach a lesson for this 40% commission looters, he said.
Siddaramaiah lashed out at Amit Shah for attacking Congress and JD(S) on the corruption issue while deliberately forgetting the complaints sent by the contractors to Modi himself on 40% commission on all government contracts and remaining silent. “The Prime Minister sends the complaint to his own government accused of corruption. Is this Modi or Amit Shah method of tackling corruption,’’ he said.
The Congress leader said it is laughable that BJP is talking about terrorism when they are the parents of terrorism.
“We have lost Mahatma Gandhi, Kalburgi, Gauri Lankesh, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and several other leaders. But it the BJP leaders who accompanied terrorists in aircraft and dropped them in Kandahar. It is the BJP which has been supplying wheat, food grains, medicines, financial aid to Taliban leaders in Afghanistan. The Talibanis are banning women and girls from going to work or studying in college while RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat says women to confine themselves only to domestic work,’’ he said.
Home Minister has no information
He attacked Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for uttering lies stating that Congress government had withdrawn cases against PFI. “I have written to the government as opposition leader seeking all details of withdrawal of cases against PFI and to mention the dates, names and other details. But the government has not provided information because it knows there is nothing,’’ he said.
Siddaramaiah accused Home Minister Araga Jnanendra for refusing to provide information to him as the opposition leader during the last 6 months. “I have written again to provide details. The Home Minister shamelessly accuses Congress while refusing to share any information for more than six months,’’ he said pointing out that the Congress party has information about BJP having an understanding with SDPI in several places.
He said Congress party should be returned to power if corruption and hate politics of BJP has to end.
