Mangalore, May 28: In a bizarre incident a person named Rudraiah hailing from Harogoppa of Shikaripura taluk, currently working as tiles fixer in Kavoor here jumped into a well near Kadri on Saturday May 28. Timely rescue, by the locals after an autorickshaw driver who witnessed the jump informed them, saved his life. The well was rich in water.
However, the matter turned curious when the reason for the ‘extreme’ step was revealed by Rudraiah. He, a BJP activist, was asked to shout slogan against Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in exchange for Rs 100 by Congress supporters, as claimed by him. As he was under influence of alcohol, he did so too.
But to his bad luck, a few BJP men shot him hurling abuses at the CM using a video camera and also informed his family in his native of his habit of consuming alcohol. Frustrated Rudraiah, who was by now scared of his family, BJP men and police on Saturday May 28 around 1.00 pm jumped into well.
The matter was soon brought to the notice of Kadri police and he has been taken into custody.
