Bengaluru, Jan 9: The Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge in Bengaluru has issued an interim injunction against the release of the controversial book, ‘Siddu Nija Kanasugalu’, circulation or dissemination in any manner till the next date of hearing on February 9.

The judge, heard the petition filed on behalf of Congress MLA Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of the Congress opposition leader and former Chief Minister, against Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Naraayan, and others, seeking a permanent stay order and passed the interim injunction order.

The judge has directed Dr Narayan and others to respond to the contentions made in the petition by February 9.

The controversial book has been written and printed without the written contention of either Yathidra or his father Siddaramaiah, the petition said and argued that it contains 'defamatory statements and spoil their image and will also hurt the sentiments of their followers and also of Siddaramaiah'.

The judge has ordered Dr Narayan and others from issuing, hosting defamatory statements in connection with the book to the print media, electronic media and from publishing, packaging, releasing or offering for sale.

It may be recalled that the State Congress party legal cell general secretary Soorya Mukundaraj has also lodged a complaint with the Siliver Jubilee Park Police Station against Dr Narayan, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy and Rohit Chakrathirtha, former president of State Textbook Revision Committee, from releasing the controversial book at the Town Hall on Monday as it ‘contains derogatory, imaginary and provocative writings’.

Siddu meets Kolar leaders at residence

Incidentally, Siddaramaiah held discussions with former Union Minister K H Muniappa, former minister M R Sitharam, former MLA Narayanaswamy and Kolar Block Congress President Prasad Babu and Udayashankar at his residence in the morning.

There is speculation in political circles that Siddaramaiah is considering contesting from the Kolar assembly constituency in the coming assembly polls.

Karnataka Congress lodges police complaint against release of book on Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, Jan 9 (IANS): The Congress in Karnataka has lodged a police complaint against the release of a book that allegedly contains derogatory, imaginary and provocative writings on opposition leader Siddaramaiah.

The party has demanded that the police should stop the release of the book, titled 'Siddu Nija Kanasugalu', at an event at the Town Hall here on Monday.

Soorya Mukundaraj, General Secretary of State Congress Legal Cell, said that the book also contains a distorted image of Siddaramaiah on its cover page.

The programme will be attended by the Minister for Higher Education Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan, Chalawadi Narayanaswamy and Rohit Chakrathirtha, former President of Textbook Syllabus Revision Committee, who created a huge controversy, he explained.

He further stated that the invitees have a track record of putting false messages on social media and target one particular community to create a law and order situation in the state.

"This time also, there is an intention to stir communal peace by projecting Siddaramaiah in a certain way, which leads to communal disturbance in the society," Soorya Mukundaraj stated.

"If permission is given for this programme, it should be withdrawn and direction should be given for the organisers to cancel the book release programme."

The complaint was lodged atthe S.J. Park police station in Bengaluru.

Siddaramaiah is known for his poignant attacks on the RSS, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Recently, he had equated Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to a puppy in front of Modi and stirred a controversy.

Later, he went on defending his statement and quipped that what he said was correct and he cannot equate Bommai to a lion or tiger.

Shame on my mangalorean catholic brethren who have no idea that they are the children of the 9000 people who survived Tipus genocide in 1790. Shame indeed when I read comments that think Tipu is a hero. Your forefathers whos sacrificed thier lives for you must be grieving in heaven

Being a Mangalore Christian, neither I can support Tippu nor BJP. We cannot support Tippu, because he killed and tortured and raped our ancestors. We cannot support BJP, because... because... because... (actually I don't know why, but we oppose BJP)

If Siddu is being compared to his own icon, Tipu, why is he afraid of defamatory depiction? He should feel elevated. It is high praise, by his standards.
