Adulterated Furnace Oil Seized, One Person Arrested


Mumbai, May 30 (PTI) Mumbai Police Commissioner's special squad late last night carried out a raid in suburban Kurla and Sewri, and seized two tankers containing a total of 27,000 litres of adulterated furnace oil.

The oil was worth Rs 24 lakh, a police release said here today.

At Kurla, one Abdul Biyan, who allegedly adulterated kerosene to make the furnace oil, was arrested. Police are looking for two more persons.

Meanwhile, Crime Branch today arrested one Nizam, an absconding accused, following seizure of the ship Sagar Sevak off Mumbai coast last week. The ship was being used to store smuggled fuel.

Two persons have been already arrested in the case.
