Bunts Qatar Felicitates Distinguished Mangalorean Achievers

Doha, May 30: Just a day after Sri Lalithe and Lukumi drama troupes led by Kishor D Shetty created history by staging first-ever historical Tulu play in the region during the decennial celebrations of M Pallonji Qatar, the Bunts Qatar felicitated Kishor D Shetty and six other distinguished Mangaloreans who were here as part of Pallonji celebrations.

The felicitation programme began after Bunts Qatar president Ravi Shetty and vice-president Prakash Ajila had escorted the guests on the dais. Yakshagana artiste and Tulu scholar Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, Udayavani daily Mangalore bureau chief Manohar Prasad, playwright and former president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy Sitaram Kulal, ace singers Ravindra Prabhu and Mohd Haneef, Namma Kudla channel director Leeladhar Karkera and Asha Chidanand Nayak were the guests on the occasion.

Ravi Shetty extended welcome to the gathering and thanked Chidanand Nayak for giving an opportunity to Mangalorean artistes to stage historical Tuly play ‘Mann’da Magal Abbakka’, written and directed by M K Sitaram Kulal. He further added that Bunts Qatar was indeed proud and happy to honour these distinguished guests who have carved a niche for themselves in their chosen field.

























































 

The guests were presented with a shawl, garland and a memento each by Ravi Shetty, Prakash Ajila, Tulu Koota Qatar president Ramchandra Shetty, Bunts Qatar advisor Jaya Shetty, committe members  Deepak Shetty,Santosh Shetty,Karunakar Shetty and Krishna Shetty while Asha Chidanand Nayak was honoured by Jyothi Ravi Shetty and Milan Arun, head of affiliation and consular services. All the visiting artistes and members of the contingent too were presented with a memento each.

All the guests addressed the gathering after receiving the honour. They were profuse in their praise about Bunts Qatar and its president Ravi Shetty for their contribution to the society in various ways. Manohar Prasad was at his humorous best and entertained the gathering through some rib-ticking jokes.

President and executive committee members of Karnataka Sangha and other prominent Mangalorean community members too were present on the occasion.

Padmashree Roshan Shetty compered and proposed the vote of thanks. The programme came to an end with a family agape.
