Bangalore, Jun 2: Tele-serial actress Suma is the second celebrity to come under the police net after being caught by CCB police for her alleged involvement in high-profile prostitution.

On Wednesday June 1 Bangalore CCB police acted on the vital information received about the alleged high-profile prostitution racket run by Suma and another woman Laxmi Srinvas who is also a pimp in this case.

It may be recalled that actress Jamuna was arrested by CCB police recently in a similar case. Suma is a popular name among TV serial viewers, having acted in 'Sandalwood' 'Arbata' movies and 'Rangoli' 'Mangalya' and 'Badhuku'. In 'Arbata' serial she acted as a college lecturer, in 'Sandalwood' she had taken up mother's role and in 'Rangoli' serial she was a police Inspector. Unfortunatley, now she is now a guest of police in Bangalore.

It is reported that she was arrested in Madhu Lodge in Bangalore, where her pimp called on the phone and set a customer for her for Rs 20,000. Police recovered cash, four mobile phones, and a car during the raid.

These kinds of illegal high-profile prostitution activities are rising at an alarming rate in Bangalore. Top hotels, massage parlours and residential complexes are being used for such activities.

    Prostitution... let it it be legalised as in western countries and even big cities in India...!!! It will help to reduce raping of many helpless women..!!!??? Our corrupt police help the organized crimes and also brothels who pay them Hafta's..!!??? These helpless women who do it out of their own will are punished..!!!????

    Inadvertently media is giving publicity to such activity! They will get out in no time, after paying the customary fine of Rs 300 or less. Why don`t you publish the photos of their clients instead? That may bring about some social change...rather than advertising for these hapless victims of circumstances.

    Nobody can control prostitution. The more you curb / control it, the more it will appear illegally. And heaven forbid, if the prostitute is brutually murdered, because of the fear of the law by the culprit visiting the prostitute, because then you will have 2 crimes prostitution and murder.

    Best is to legalize prostitution in a controlled manner, by controlled manner, i mean, every prostitute should be over the age of 25, and should want to be a prostitute our of her own free will and choice. This is the only way to control human trafficking, child prostitution and other voilent forms of prostitution that happens in our midst all the time, but the pimps never get caught with this kind of nefarious activities.

    that we shouldn't interfere
    with the personal freedom of
    other people in their choice of
    profession.

    Why the profession of prostituion
    is treated differently by the
    police, based on the status of the
    people engaged in it?

    If the society is trying to
    legalize everybody's free choice,
    then we will be faced with a great
    problem of moving our location
    of residence to some other
    planets.

    How many people would like to have
    a house of prostitution, drug
    pushing business or pornography
    outlet close to their homes?

    Even though the flesh trade is the
    oldest business in the world, when
    we study history of those cities
    and nations highly engaged in such
    demoralizing and destructive
    business have faced serious
    consequences. It is practically
    very hard to control this business,
    that does't mean that we must let
    it do openly and legally without
    any question asked. The society,
    especially the religious people
    will have to engage heavily to
    transform these people through
    proper guidance.

    A lot can be said about this profession. It is unfortunate that ladies young and old resort to this kind of life. I have read various comments made by people in general.

    In medicine there is something like getting at the cause of the problems and not treat the symptoms. Is it not the same here?. Has any one tried to analyze the root cause of this situation. Why do women indulge in this kind of flesh trading?

    The department of law and order will do well to try and rehabilitate these unfortunate women. Commence counseling centers to educate these persons and try to teach them a respectable trade.

    Will the higher ups in The Law Enforcement department consider this suggestion?

    This is a very dicy law to call the world's oldest profession as illegal. If an consented individual having sex in a closed room is illegal then what about movies... the actors and actress take money and act in obscene movies? cant we call it as prostitution?? However, the govt. and the polce have more better work to do than catching these pimps and call girls. what if the lady who is caught in the raid tell the court that, the man with whom she was was her boy freind.
    As said by Jane.. when you can legalise Gay marriage and gay relation which is quite against the Nature and any religion why not prostitution. Let the woman who wants to make money do what she want moreover there are gigolos too. when there are sex hungry guys and women around we cannot control it.. only thing must be controlled is to avoid some innocent being pushd in to the profession. The police are going to take disadvantage of this episode than doing any good.

    Just legalise thie profession and you will have more police force to control serious crimes like Rape, Murder, Corruption etc.

    This is one profession that no power on earth can stop. It has been going on for centuries and will continue till the end of time.It is time to legalize this profession as some countries have already done. No need of wasting the precious time of law enforcers chasing hapless women. What should be stopped is human trafficking, bonded labour, child labour, drug trafficking and such evils.

    India still prefers to live by archaic rules set in the British Raj,when being GAY has been legalized by the Delhi High Court, don't see why Prostitution is viewed in a different light.The judiciary and the legislature have turned a blind eye to this very pertinent question

    High time prostitution is legalised in the country. Then
    these 'headlines' would stop. Many a times it is desperation which drives or makes one to do such deeds. No wonder this is called the 'oldest profession'. There was also a 'veshyaa dharma'
    prevalent in olden days. If the rulers these days cannot provide(forget the opulent who indulge in such acts under a different garb) then they have no business
    to intervene when one does such acts as a means to survive also!It's easy to shout about morals from roof tops when ground realities cannot even be envisaged!!
