Beltangady: Dalit Sangarsha Samithi holds Dharmasthala police thane chalo programme

Beltangady, Jan 23: Dalit Sangharsha Samithi Ambedkar Vaada held a Dharmastala Police station chalo programme with the cooperation of various Dalit organisations calling for detailed investigations to be conducted into the murder of Sridhar and also action against those who protected the killers.

The rally began from Netravati in the company of hundreds of Dalit organisation activists shouting slogans against Grama panchayat president and police officials who they said were allegedly protecting the accused.

Addressing the protesters in front of Beltangady police station, Dalit Sangharsha Samithi organising convener Chandu L Shibaje said the whole administration machinery has stood in support of the accused as the killer belongs to the BJP.

 

“The government should immediately pay compensation to the family of the deceased and a criminal case should be registered against the gram panchayat president who protected the killer. Action should be taken against the DySP also,” he urged.

State organizing convener Mallesh Ambuga said that atrocities against the dalits in the state are occurring repeatedly. “The government and the police are supporting the exploiters,” he said.

The protests were led by Dalit organizations coordination committee convener Ashok Konchadi. Sunder Mera, Nemiraja Killur, Shekar Kukkedi, Koragappa Aladangadi, Jayaprakash Kanyadi, Ramesh Kelagoor, Sesappa Bedrakadu, Ananda Mangaluru, Vasanth Kumbaladi, Girish Ullal, Monappa Moodigere, Ravi Moodigere, Venkanna Nagaraja Laila, Jayananda Koyyoor, Jayananda Pilikula, Shekar Laila, Baby Suvarna, Sridhar Kalenja and leaders of Dalit Sangharsha Samithi also took part.

Protesters continued with their protests waiting for the arrival of the SP.
