Panaji: Goa CM Holds High Level Meeting Ahead of Call for Bandh

Panaji, Jun 4 (PTI) The Goa government today held a high level meeting in the wake of bandh called on June 6 to protest state government's decision declaring English as the Medium of Instruction (MOI).

Chief Minister Digambar Kamat chaired the meeting at state secretariat which was attended by top officials.

The meeting decided that precautions should be taken to ensure that agitators do not disturb peace in the state.

"All precautions would be taken. But if someone wants to support bandh call voluntarily, then no one can stop him," Kamat told reporters after the meeting.

Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) has called for a day-long bandh on June 6, when the new academic year begins, to protest against state government's decision to give MOI status to English language, ignoring Konkani and Marathi.
