Solapur: Life Imprisonment to Five for Murder of Cong Corporator

Solapur, Jun 5 (PTI) The district court today sentenced five persons to life imprisonment for the murder of a Congress corporator.

Additional sessions judge S R Wadale also imposed an aggregate fine of Rs 1,02,500 on Arif Ayyub Salar (30), Babar Aziz Salar (25), Jameel Aziz Salar (22), Atique Jahangir Sheikh (22) and Abdul Noor Ahmed Sheikh (24).

The judge ordered that of the fine amount, Rs 50,000 be paid to the deceased's wife.

Jabbar Sheikh was murdered near Solapur Municipal Corporation building two and half years ago. Rivalry between two gangs is stated to be the reason for the murder.
