Mangaluru, Jan 30: MLA UT Khader said on Monday January 30 that Rahul Gandhi successfully completed the Bharath Jodo Yatra and received immense support from the general public.
Addressing media he said, “Rahul Gandhi successfully completed Bharath Jodo Yatra by covering more than 3,000 kilometres in 135 days. Bharath Jodo Yatra came to an end at Srinagar where he hoisted the national flag. Like Rahul Gandhi told earlier, the Yatra was a non-political and there was a need to have Bharath Jodo Yatra as the country was being divided in the name of religion, caste and creed by the BJP. Rahul Gandhi took up the Yatra to unite people with the motive of developing the nation. He received immense support throughout the 135 days. The BJP spent close to Rs 500 to Rs 600 crore for social media campaign against Rahul Gandhi and Bharath Jodo Yatra, but it was of no use as Bharath Jodo Yatra was concluded successfully gaining public support.”
Reacting to the statement of VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell, Khader said, “Such controversial and provocative remarks are dangerous to the society. He is defending a murder. They are the real anti-nationals. People are standing in favour of peace and harmony but on the other hand murder is being justified. No one should be murdered. Irrespective of religion, every life has value. We have to create an atmosphere where no one should be killed. Why need to have such mindset of killing people. Only the parents, brother and sisters of the deceased will know the pain and not the one who delivers provocative speeches. The entire case should be re-investigated. They deliver such speeches to gain publicity. Such people should be expelled from this place. Why has the district or state need to bear such people?”
When asked if Congress will reinvestigate the cases if it comes to power, Khader said, “Yes, we will re-investigate the cases including those of Praveen Nettaru and Fazil and ensure that those involved in hatching the conspiracy will be arrested.”
On Sharan Pumpwell’s statement about sleeper cell terrorism in Ullal, Khader said, “There is no need to react. We have the police department and intelligence to do their duties and take action against those.”
On the ongoing debate between ideologies of Godse and Gandhiji, Khader said, “During the Bharath Jodo Yatra, 95% of the people we met were following ideologies of Gandhiji and not that of Godse.”
