Bantwal, Jan 30: People got down to the street at Kalladka protesting and expressing anguish against the highway contractors hindering the highway work alleging that the road has been closed.

The contractors who encroached the land have not come forward to speak to the land owners or to the people. Therefore, the owner of the land assuming that the road has been permenantly constructed on his property had closed the road.

As the road was shortened, people were unable to go from Kalladka national highway to that area. Therefore the villagers got down to the road in the morning on Monday, January 30, and confronted the workers of the contractors.

Bantwal town police station SI Ramakrishna summoned the company director and revenue department officials to the spot and held discussions.

The villagers dispersed after getting an assurance that the road will be constructed without creating any obstruction to the people.
