Kundapur, Feb 3: Rashmi S R took charge as the assistant commissioner of Kundapur sub-division on Friday.

K Raju who was the Kundapur assistant commissioner for the last three years has been transferred as the assistant commissioner of Mangaluru sub-division.

Rashmi S R, a resident of Mangaluru, is a KAS officer of the 2014 batch. She completed her probationary term at Mangaluru in 2017 and was appointed as Bantwal tahsildar in 2019. She served as Kaup tahsildar during the Lok Sabha and Grama Panchayat elections in between before returning to Bantwal.

She was promoted as the district officer of the department of district backward classes welfare in 2022 and has taken charge as Kundapur AC now.

Speaking to news persons at the Mini Vidhana Soudha here, she said that she has got the opportunity to work at Kundapur for the first time. “I have heard about the Kundapura Kannada language,” she said.

When the issue of illegal sand and mining was brought to her notice by the media, she said that she will be looking into it.
