Sullia: Marriage called off at last moment after groom fails to turn up at wedding hall

Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Feb 10: In a bizarre incident that is reported from the city, a wedding was cancelled at the last moment in the town hall as the groom did not arrive for the marriage.

The marriage of a young girl, a resident of Ubaradka village of the taluk, was fixed with a youth of Puttur. The function was arranged at town hall in the city on Thursday. People from groom’s party had come to the town hall and the hall was decorated also. On Wednesday, a DJ-led programme was held at the house of bride. The bride’s party had also arrived on Thursday for the marriage at town hall. Lunch for 500 people was also arranged. However, suddenly it came to light that the mobile phone of the groom is switched off.

It was later gathered that concerned people of bride’s party had informed Sullia police station. It was revealed that the groom was already married and his first wife had given a verbal complaint with Bellare police that her husband is trying to marry a second time. The police had called the youth and taken an undertaking in her presence and sent him home.

The crowd that gathered at town hall went to their homes without having food as the marriage was called off. The food was served to local hostels.

Why Gods sake girls party didnt inquire properly before preparing for her marraIge?Was the girl a burden to them? Its good that present wife informed police about it and saved girl from falling into a problem.Sitll girls parents must have take n a big loan to marry her off .Now so much cost and cry now when marraige is called off .Instead they could marry her off to a willing and same age boy from village on same day.A case should be filed to the bridegroom (Past)for not telling the truth and to cost of preparations to share.Simply dont leave him so.Wanted to collect dowry from her ?

No need to guess what group the attempted marriage of the youth was arranged. Only one allows multiple marriages as the Hindu Marriage Act does not apply to yjr,/ Poor girl was left at the "altar" and the youth absconded, perhaps not with his already married spouse who lodged the police complaint/ Such cheating goes on.

Everything happens everything for good.If that's the reason it is not bad..This situation would have arouse after marriage which is more painful for all. At the end really feel pity for bride. The food ,hall expense, flower, photography all remained waste.

Very sad thing to happen to any girl's family... Arranging for a wedding function is not a easy task for any girl's parents however rich or poor they may be in our local societies... This is betrayal and cheating... Guy must be arrested and paraded in the streets of his home town... These type of cases call for denying bail for long time unlike keeping hapless journos and christian priests....

Abandoning wife and leaving home is bad thing.. But abandoning one wife and then another like a chain is a beautiful thing right? What more.. Abandoning once and then forcing her to stay with a stranger before returning home is even more heavenly. Alas, i wonder how desert cult get such pride still.

Ms.Irene, It's wrong in the part of parents to give 7 years old girl wedded to 60 years old man for seeking power of kingdom. It's called sacrifical death while living to the poorest girl who do not know good/bad about the world.

Practice of marrying-off girls from poor girls to rich arabs is occuring more before ten years. For which agents use to get extraordinary amount with gifts if age of girl is less. One/two of wives of arabs are from either Old city, Hyderabad, Mallapuram, Assam, Kolkatta, Lucknow, Outskirts of Mangalore and from many more places. Indian Government taken stern step to reduce such marriages after one of airhostess confronted with arabs who is with under age girl travelling to gulf. We appreciate Late Indira Gandhi in this matter.
