Mumbai, Jun 13 (PTI) BJP Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde, who is apparently upset with his party leadership, has met Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray.
The meeting was held at a suburban five-star hotel yesterday evening against the backdrop of speculations that Munde might quit the BJP to join Congress.
Sources in the Shiv Sena said Thackeray was aware that Munde had played an important role in cementing the Shivshakti-Bhimshakti alliance, which aims to dethrone the incumbent Congress-NCP coalition, and that his detachment would be detrimental to it.
The leader is reportedly upset over the recent appointment of Pune corporator Vikas Mathkari as the Pune city BJP president. Mathkari, who is a supporter of BJP National President Nitin Gadkari, was chosen over another contender Yogesh Gogawale, who is close to Munde.
