Mangaluru: World Thinking Day observed at Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru, Feb 22: The Scouts and Guides of Mount Carmel Central School celebrated the World Thinking Day in the school auditorium on February 22. Scouts Adit Maroli and Daniel Pinto, Guides Ahana G Rao and Reema A S compeered the programme, which began with the All Faith Prayer followed by words of welcome and a welcome dance. The chief guest of the programme Bharathraj K, asst State Organizing Commissioner, Bharath Scouts and Guides, Dakshina Kannada District was welcomed with a sapling. Students highlighted the significance of the day and also the theme of the year – 'Our World, Our Peaceful Future'.

Students brought out beautifully through songs and dances, the unity in India and the need to live in peace and harmony, in keeping to the theme of the year. A few calm and cool Yoga exercises and an energetic pyramid dance added charm to the programme. The chief guest Bharathraj K, in his address appreciated the elegant programme put up by the Scouts and Guides. He motivated the students to be a good leader by telling the story of why lion is called as the king of jungle, inspite of having the other animals like fastest animal cheetah, smartest animal fox or gigantic animal elephant in the jungle. He also highlighted the need of the hour ‘peace’, peace within us and around us. The chief guest also gave away the certificates to 18 Scouts, 12 Guides, Scout Master Dhanyashree and Guide Captain Aparna, who attended the International Jamboree at Alva’s Moodabidri in December 2022. Vice principal Sr Lathika congratulated the Scouts, Guides and their captains for the meaningful programme and wished them well. The programme ended with Vote of thanks.

After the formal programme, the investiture ceremony was held on the open air grounds. The ceremony began with the scouts and guides prayer song, flag song and continued with the Oath-Taking ceremony. Principal Sr Melissa congratulated the Scouts and Guides and encouraged them to live up to their motto ‘Be Prepared’. The 75 students were then enrolled as Scouts and Guides and were given Pravesh Badge and Scarf by the principal and captains.

The celebration gave the message powerfully that if one has the power to think, one can build a peaceful future for oneself and the society.
