Bantwal: Divorce case hearing – Husband consumes poison in front of officials, hospitalised

Bantwal, Feb 23: A man, who had come to attend a hearing in the wake of divorce complaint filed by his wife, consumed poison in front of the officials and tried to kill himself. This incident occurred at B C Road on Wednesday.

Prakash Chougule of Maharashtra origin is the person who tried to kill himself. He was admitted to Wenlock hospital. He had married a woman, resident of B C Road after a love affair. Later some differences cropped up between the couple and the matter went to the state of divorce.

Officials of Bantwal women and children welfare department were conducting an inquiry in this regard, based on the complaint filed by the wife of Prakash. Suddenly Prakash consumed poison, which he had bought in a bottle. Officials who were taken aback by the incident got him admitted to Bantwal government hospital and later to Wenlock hospital of Mangaluru for higher treatment.

It is said that Prakash had come with all preparation to kill himself and carried a death note also with him in addition to the bottle of poison.

Bantwal city police are inquiring further.
