Mangaluru: Missionary Children's Association inaugurated at Omzoor parish

Mangaluru, Feb 24: The day of February 19, will go down in the annals of Mangalore Diocese as the day the ‘Pontifical Missionary Children’s Association’ was formed at the Church of the Holy Family Parish, Omzoor.

Fr Rupesh Tauro, director of the Pontifical Mission Organization of the diocese gave an introductory talk to all the aspiring children from class IV to IX. During the talk, he briefed the motives of this association and spoke of how the Church seeks to instill the love for mission to all the Catholic Children right from their childhood. This valuable session included the history of the Association’s origin, the functioning, and its role in the church.

After the talk, the children assembled for the mass in the church. It was during the holy mass that the association was officially inaugurated. All the children clad in white dress joined the entrance procession. After the procession, flowers, a mirror, a small plant, a globe, a clock, and the Holy Bible were presented symbolically to manifest the zeal and the love the members of the association would henceforth show to the same. The dignitaries Fr Alwyn D’Cunha - the parish priest, Fr Rupesh Tauro- director of Pontifical mission organization, Arthur D’Souza- vice president, Deena Lewis- secretary, Deacon Lohith Mascarenhas, Br Prithesh Crasta, the animators of the association and two representatives of the association lit the lamp.

The mass was presided by Fr Rupesh Tauro along with Fr Alwyn D’Cunha. During the homily, Fr Rupesh enlightened the faithful about the importance of the mission and how it can be concretely done in the families if it is well formed in the lives of the children. After this, the children pledged the vow of the association in the presence of Fr Alwyn D’Cunha. After the concluding blessing, the badges were distributed to all the members of the association.

The Holy Family parish, Omzoor is currently having 63 children as members of the association. The association will have their regular meeting every third Sunday of the month animated by three animators: Delson Rodrigues, Tenisha Pinto and Rasheal Cutinha.
