Udupi, Feb 25: “It is possible to keep the coast safe as the coastal protection force has put into practice all the procedures taught to them at the Malpe coastal training institute,” said coast commander of the Mangaluru division, DIG commander P K Mishra.

He was speaking at the conclusion of the training for the first group held at Malpe coastal protection police office today. “Coast guard will provide further training if necessary,” he said.

District panchayat chief executive Prasanna H said that it will be possible to face natural disasters as the police staff, revenue and rural development staff will be provided suitable training. Anti-naxal force SP Nikkam Prakash Amrath was present.

A total of 25 candidates of the coast guard police took part in the training held from February 13 to 25. Training regarding swimming in the sea, rescue of the people who face risk in the sea, fire, use of communication equipment, functions of boats, use of drones, law and other necessary training is provided to them.

Staff that excelled during the training were awarded prizes. Coast guard police SP and coastal security training institute principal Abdul Ahad welcomed. Coast guard police inspector Shankar compered the programme. Inspector Pramod rendered a vote of thanks.
