Udupi, Feb 26: Block Congress committee president Ramesh Kanchan accused that attempt is being made to implement the Cauvery web portal service for registration, sale and purchase of land, which was cancelled in Mangaluru due to the protest o public.

Ramesh Kanchan said, “When attempt was made to implement the Cauvery portal in the taluk registrar’s office in Mangaluru, lawyers and document writers along with public opposed the move. Dakshina Kannada in-charge minister Sunil Kumar, MLAs U T Khader, Vedavyas Kamath, Bharath Shetty, Umanath Kotian and Rajesh Naik, who reciprocated to the opposition of public had pressurized the government to drop the project. So the project was dropped.

“Now action is taken to implement the Cavery-2 web portal that was rejected in Mangaluru, in the senior sub-registrar’s office in Udupi from March 1 compulsorily. This is condemnable. Public is already distraught due to the server issues faced in online services that are provided at city municipality, taluk office, urban development authority etc. It is not right to implement this vital portal for purchase and sale of land without knowing its pros and cons.

“Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje, MLA Raghupati Bhat and others should exert pressure on state government and see that this project is not implemented,” he said.
