Udupi: State govt employees to go on strike from Mar 1, only emergency services available

Udupi, Feb 28: “The state government employees will go on indefinite strike from March 1. Except emergency medical services, all other government services will be stopped,” said Amparu Dinakar Shetty, president of Udupi district state government employees’ association.

Dinakar gave details about the proposed strike in a meeting that was held at taluk panchayat auditorium. He said, “In the emergency executive meeting of elected representatives and president, office bearers of affiliated associations of Karnataka state government employees association of Udupi which was held on February 21 it was decided to hold indefinite strike from March 1 demanding revision of salaries and perks of state government employees.

“During the strike period, all employees should stay away from office and should not bend to any kind of pressure or threat by the government. All have to participate in the strike boldly till our demands are completely met.

“The state government employees are dejected as no mention with regards to revision of their salaries was made in the recent budget. There is 25% difference in the salaries of union government and state government employees and salaries and perks of Karnataka state employees are the lowest,” he said.

Education, revenue, rural development health and forest department office bearers assured of their full support to the strike.

Udayakumar Shetty, secretary of the association, Subramanya Sherigar, immediate past president and office bearers of all employees association were present.
