Baby dies in mother's womb after doc refuses C-section surgery without paying Rs 10K bribe in Yadgir

Yadgir, Mar 17 (IANS): In a shocking incident, a baby died in mother's womb as the doctor refused to perform a C-Section surgery until the family paid Rs 10,000 bribe to her in Karnataka's Yadgir district.

The district administration suspended the gynecologist on Friday.

Dr. Pallavi Poojari, Gynecologist attached to the district hospital of Yadgir is the suspended doctor.

According to authorities, Sangeetha, a local homemaker, had come for delivery to the district hospital on Thursday. Dr. Pallavi had allegedly asked for a Rs 10,000 bribe to conduct cesarean surgery on her. The family of Sujatha, who did not have money, left to arrange the money from relatives and friends.

Family and relatives protesting at the hospital

Only after the money was paid to her, she performed the surgery. However, as the delivery got delayed, the baby died in the womb.

The family and relatives alleged that the negligence of the gynecologist was responsible for the death of the baby.

They protested in the premises of the hospital.

The District Commissioner R. Snehal after getting the report placed the doctor under suspension.

Most of the people are talking about educated and uneducated. This doctor is not a educated? Where is the values of education is gone???? For me education is just a certificate to get job. Apart from that there is no value added to humans. If not after knowing the seriousness of the case how the doctor let the baby die in mothers womb? This doctor must be labelled as murderer Dr. Pallavi Poojari, Gynecologist.

In this case no difference inbetween this Doctor & hangman in jail. Nothing will happen to these people because 1) we are divided on the basis of religion. 2) we are divided on the basis of castes. 3 we are divided on the basis of subcasts. Who will fight for the justice?

The very same victims might have taken Rupees ten thousand (either in cash or in kind) from the politician at the time of election. Now the politician has to take the same amount from the doctor. The doctor has to collect it from the patients (victims). It is a vicious circle. Do not sell your vote this time for Rupees ten thousand.

In a country as populated as 130 crores humans crimes do happen across cultures. Nobody condoned it. There are laws to punish the guilty and we hope this lady gets the due punishment. However, what do we do if the project 2047 of the PFI becomes a success. even in rape cases we may have to bring 4 male witness. if it is not brought then the victim may be punished for adultery. No use bringing a weak tangent to put across a case. this is only one example. So the sinister plot was condemned.
