New Delhi, Jun 21: The BJP has decided to step up the ante against the UPA government over the issue of corruption and black money, with a four-day protest starting June 23.
BJP national vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the UPA government was showing a "barabaric dictatorial acttitude" and instead of fighting corruption, it is making use issues of communalism and psuedo-secularism to divert attention.
The government is trying to suppress agitations against graft and corruption, while the BJP aims to bring these crimes to the attention of the public, he said.
BJP plans to launch a mass campaign across the country on June 23 which will also mark the death anniversary of BJP founder Shyama Prasad Mookerjee. On June 26, on the anniversary of Emergency, the campaign will end, he said.
The campaign will comprise meetings, seminars, public awareness programmes, rallies, street plays etc. BJP leaders in different parts of the country will take part, including L K Advani, party president Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj, M Venkaiah Naidu, Murli Manohar Joshi, Rajnath Singh, Ananth Kumar and Naqvi.
BJP will launch a similar campaign in July also.
