Hyderabad, Jun 22: 76-year-old Telangana ideologue Jayashankar was given an emtional farewell at Hanamkonda in Warangal district here on Wednesday June 22. Thousands of well-wishers and pro-Telangana activists participated in the final joureny of their leader.
A chorus of 'Jayashankar Amar Rahe' was the heard throughout the procession, and people from all walks of life, including women and children participated in large numbers.
Jayashankar was cremated in the presence of several leaders and well-wishers.
Former vice-chancellor of Kakatiya University and the most revered figure in the Telangana movement, Jayashankar died on Tuesday after protracted illness.
Earlier, a huge procession passed through the tri-city of Hanamkonda-Warangal-Kazipet. Holding portraits of Jayashankar, the people raised slogans of "Jai Telangana".
Shops, business establishments and educational institutions in the town were closed as a mark of respect to the leader.
