Udupi: New taluk office building constructed at cost of Rs 10 crores inaugurated

Udupi, March 23: “The administration should solve the issues of ordinary people and be people-friendly,” said minister for social welfare and backward classes welfare Kota Srinivas Poojary.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the new taluk office building constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crores on Thursday, March 23.   

“Most of the issues of the people are concerning the revenue department. The staff should develop the attitude of working transparently and in solving the problems of people swiftly,” he said.

“The land allotted to the revenue department except the deemed forest zone should be distributed among the beneficiaries under 94 C and 94 CC on a priority basis,” he said.

MLA K Raghupathi Bhat who presided over the programme said that several projects have been taken up for the all-round development of Brahmavar. “Rs 310 crore and Rs 195 crore worth projects are being taken up for supply of drinking water. Brahmavar Seethanadi four-lane road works have been taken up at a cost of Rs 80 crore which is in progress. A 100-bed ESI hospital project is being constructed on a five-acre plot land which is at the tendering stage. Efforts towards a new taluk court and taluk panchayat building are in progress,” he said.

“As all the taluk level offices are situated at the same place, several facilities will be available to people soon. The minister of revenue has assured us of the release of Rs 2.75 crore for furniture,” he said. Various facilities were distributed to the beneficiaries.

Karnataka state backward class commission president K Jayaprakash Hegde, Varamballi grama panchayat president Nagaveni Pandarinath, deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M, SP Akshay M Hakay, Kundapura sub-division officer Rashmi, Karnataka housing board engineer Sahana and others were present.

Brahmavar tahsildar Rajashekar Murthi welcomed. Revenue inspector Laxmi Narayan Bhat rendered the vote of thanks.
