Man held in Mysuru for assaulting wife for not giving birth to male child

Mysuru, March 27 (IANS): Karnataka Police have arrested a man for assaulting his wife for not giving birth to a male child in H.D. Kote taluk of Mysuru district, an official said on Monday.

According to police, the incident had been reported from Sonahalli village near H.D. Kote town. The arrested person is identified as Chandru. Police explain that Chandru married Shivamma and they had two daughters.

Chandru was not happy with this and tortured Shivamma for not giving birth to male child. Chandru's parents Rame Gowda and Kempamma also supported him and they also tortured Shivamma.

The elders of the family tried to convince Chandru and her parents about not insisting on male child and stop torturing Shivamma. Chandru, not bothering about anything, started assaulting his wife.

Unable to take the torture, Shivamma has filed complaint against her husband in H.D. Kote police station. The in-laws have disappeared fearing arrest. The police have taken up further investigation.

    @real kujuma....everytime i read your comments you are dividing people and asking other community to become hostile towards your entire comminity. What about your people? If not given birth for a male child go for another marriage. So comment like an individual incident rather than blaming the whole community.

    @ Eva, Kirem, May be surprising to you. For us a girl or boy are both a blessing. We don't need to divorce or marry another just because we did not get a boy child. Probably surprising to you, but you will not read such news nor that Muslims commit suicide because that is haraam.

    Eva, Kirem, Yes! you are 100% right! For the mistake of an individual we CANNOT BLAME the entire community. This should be applied in all cases, unfortunately when Muslim does a crime, you drag the entire community. Black sheep there, within every community, and their percentage is bare minimum. But some people blame the entire community for the mistake of an individual. This must be stopped.

    Brave lady.... The guy is insane and his parents with devilish mindsets.... At least the mother in law should have realized she is a woman too.... What great gifts from heaven will boy child bring???.. Now the only issue is whether she will live respectfully in the society or not... Govt must help her cause and rehabilitate if necessary....
