Mumbai, Jun 25: The ‘Muhurat’ programme of Konkani play ‘Estel Konachi Vhokal’ written by Joseph D’Souza Borivli, was held at the author’s residence Borivli recently.
George D’Souza, well-known Konkani activist, ardent Konkani reader, and the founder president of Canara Konkani Association Borivli, inaugurated the script and said, “Konkani dramas are rarely seen in today’s world. All theatre personalities need to be supported by Konkani lovers”.
This Konkani social drama has a bit of comedy too and comprises 10 scenes featuring 12 characters. The duration of the play is about three hours. The late Joker Cascia has composed lyrics and tunes. Francis Olivera Padukone, who has acted in Kannada and Hindi movies and is a familiar face in Hindi television serials, will direct the play. The drama contains four songs which have already been recorded. Ivan Sequeira, Charles D’Cunha, Lancy Almeida, and Florine Mathias have sung the songs.
Gregory Sequiera Niddodi, Edwin Banz, Florine Mathias, Hilda D'Souza, Robert Noronha, Cyril Castelino, Vincent Castelino, Veronica Noronha, and others make up the cast.
The first show of this drama will be held at Borivli during Diwali holidays.
The programme started with a prayer by Leo Coutinho. The director gave the welcome address. Tribute was paid to Joker Cascia. Author Joseph D’Souza gave the vote of thanks. At the end, a buffet dinner was served to all.
