Guwahati, Jun 25: RTI activist and secretary of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) Akhil Gogoi was arrested on Friday June 25 when he was addressing the media from Guwahati Press Club premises.
He has been accused of being responsible for stimulating violence and demanding land deed for the government land which they had encroached on the hills.
Ten cases including four non-bailable one's have been registered against Akhil.
Meanwhile, people protested against the government and demanded immediate release of the activist.
A 12-hour bandh was called in protest against the government. There were reports of three deaths including that of a nine-year-old in the clashes.
Several organizations like the Brihattar Asomiya Yuva Mancha and Asomiya Yuva Mancha have supported the bandh.
Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed across the state.
