Udupi, Mar 29: Malini Mallya, private assistant of Dr Shivarama Karanth passed away at a Bengaluru hospital. She was the president of Kota Dr Shivarama Karanth study centre. Malini Mallya who was suffering from Parkinson disease for a long time was shifted to Bengaluru recently.

She had constructed Karanth Smrathi Bhavan at Saligrama and was hosting the programmes of Karanth. She was with Shivarama Karanth till his last days as his private assistant and had written about his life and writings. She contributed articles in understanding the life and love of Karanth.

She was an author, hailed from Udupi and had retired from service at the Life Insurance Corporation of India.

Her books include Nanu Kanda Karantaru, Gondalapurada Nindalaru, Dhampathya Gadhe, Shivarama Karantara Kinnaraloka, Chinnara Loka part 1 and part 2, Karanta Uwacha, Shivarama Karantara Vazmiya Vratanta, Shivarama Karantara Krithi Kaipidi, Shivarama Karanatara Lekhanagalu – 8 editions, Pakshigala Adhbuta Loka and Bala Prapancha – 3.

She was the recipient of ‘Namodita Sahitya Prashasti’ from Shashwathi organization, Bengaluru.
