Mangaluru, Mar 30: Sri Lakshmananda Multipurpose Society will celebrate its silver jubilee on April 2.
Sri Lakshmananda multipurpose society that started in 1997 with only Rs 3 lacs capital, nine directors and 800 shareholders has more than Rs 2.8 crore capital and more than 400 crore shareholders now.
It has earned more than Rs 1 crore profit during 2022 and has paid 20% dividend to its shareholders.
It has provided loans to more than 2,500 auto drivers and made them owners. It has disbursed loans to street vendors and vegetable sellers for their capital and inspired them to be self-reliant. It also provides for guidance to them from time to time.
It has indulged in social work by holding free eye test camp, blood donation camp, help for the children of members and donations to several groups and associations.
The society has its head office at Morgans gate and branches at Hampankatta, Kavoor, Katipalla- Kaikamba and Ullal. It has built its own building at Morgan gate at a cost of Rs 8 crores.
The silver jubilee of the society will be held in the new building on April 2, 2023. It will be presided over by former minister J Krishna Palemar.
President J Krishna Palemar, vice-president K Dinesh Rao, directors and CEO Shivaprasad P A were present in the news conference.
