Kundapur, Mar 31: Rashmi S R, election officer and assistant commissioner (AC) said that prior permission is required to hold any kind of meeting, programme, religious ceremonies, political meetings and campaign meetings as election code of conduct is implemented.
Rashmi spoke at the press conference that was held on Thursday evening at Mini Vidhana Soudha. Rashmi further said, “Flying squad team, spot surveillance team and video surveillance team are formed. Three teams will conduct checking continuously in eight hour shifts at Halady, Kandloor and Saibrakatte check posts. C-vigil app is also in action for public to raise any complaint to prevent illegal activity. Even anonymous calls will be attended to.
“Kundapur tahsildar Shobhalaxmi H S, Brahmavar Tahsildar Rajshekhar Murthy and Hebry Tahsildar Purandar K will work as assistant election officers. Taluk panchayat EO Mahesh Holla is nominated as nodal officer to check violation of election code of conduct.
“In the Kundapur legislative constituency, there are 222 polling booths. In total, there are 207204 voters comprising of 99577 men, 107625 women and two third gender voters. There are 3277 voters in the age group of 18 and 19. As many as 6209 voters are above the age of 80. Specially-abled and voters above the age of 80 can cast their votes from their homes. Officers will visit such houses with EVMs.
“A control room is opened to monitor activities for 24 hours. Complaints can be raised by calling 08254-230352 and 6364626868. Amount above Rs 50,000 cannot be carried without any valid proof. If cash in excess of Rs 10 lac is found, it will be given to tax department,” she said.
