Madikeri: Violation of code of conduct – Show cause notice issued to admin of WhatsApp group admin

Madikeri, Mar 31: Election officer of Madikeri legislative constituency and AC of Madikeri issued show cause notice to V P Shashidhar, admin of Namma Kushalnagar WhatsApp group for sharing a politically motivated video without seeking any prior permission.

In the show cause notice issued it is mentioned, “Election code of conduct is in force in Karnataka from March 29. During the period when the ECC is in force any kind of politically motivated campaign on newspapers or any other form of media can be done only after obtaining permission from the District Media Certification and Monitoring committee.

“In the Namma Kushalnagara WhatsApp group, of which you are the admin, a politically motivated video is shared without getting any prior permission. This is a clear violation of code of conduct.

“In the wake of this violation, you need to give a written explanation why legal action should not be taken against you under people representative act of 1951, within 24 hours of this notice reaching you. Any failure to do so, will be considered that you do not have any explanation for the act and legal action will be taken,” stated the notice.
