Bengaluru, Apr 3: Cyber thieves have stolen personal information of 66.9 crore people. Most of these people whose data has been stolen are those who have used various apps including Amazon, Netflix, Zomator, Phonepe. In addition, those who visit many websites as well as social media channels have also been prone to data theft.

Cyberabad police of Telangana have busted this racket of cyber thieves. When they arrested Vinay Bharadwaj and inquired he has confessed to have stolen personal data of people living in 24 states and eight metropolitan cities of India.

The data is mostly stolen from Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, Paytm, Phonepe, Bigbasket, Bookmyshow, Instagram, Zomato, GST, RTO and policy bazaar apps and social media.


Accused Vinay Bharadwaj

Most of the victims are officials of defence forces, government workers, pan card, debit card and credit card users, rich and affluent people, students from ninth to 12th grade, NEET students, senior citizens, Delhi electricity users and DMat account holders and those who are job seekers.

The stolen details include name, mobile number, house address, email id, occupation, educational qualification, details of property and bank accounts, GST number, income tax details and apps that are used by the person.

These cyber thieves were selling the stolen data to online marketing agencies and online fraudsters. Cyber fraudsters use these numbers to call public posing as representatives of various organizations and cheat people.

Cyberabad police are investigating further.

    Good comment. When government was hell bent and adamant to collect the personal data through adhar card and link the details to various depts. Its again govts duty to safeguard the personal details of its citizens. Where we link the aadhar cards, from there datas are sold out....Govt should look into the matter seriously and not to be serious how to win in election...When you do good, definitely people will vote for you....No need of any sophisticated instruments EVMS pms etc..
