Bengaluru, Apr 4: Slamming the ruling BJP of “looting temple funds,” JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy attacked BJP’s Nanjangud MLA B Harshavadhan of diverting the temple funds from the Sri Nanjundewshwara temple hundi.
In a series of tweets, the former chief minister on Tuesday lashed out at the ruling BJP for projecting itself as the “saviour of religion” (dharmoddharakas) and for “behaving as if they the contract to save Hindu religion” and said the BJP Nanjangud MLA’s action of diverting the temple’s hundi funds was an insult to gods.
Kumaraswamy pointed out that the Muzrai Act mandates that the temple funds must be utilised for the development of the same temple. “But for this 40% BJP rule, even temple funds are to be utilised for elections,” he said and warned the ruling party that it will “incur divine wrath and retribution.”
Condemning the ruling BJP for its decision of diverting Muzrai temple funds for other purposes, including construction of community halls and other purposes, Kumaraswamy said the “brazen act” of the Nanjangud BJP MLA must be immediately stopped and the temple funds must be returned.
