Kundapur, Apr 4: "I thank all those who supported me when I stood for elections four times under BJP and once as an independent," said Kundapur Vidhan Sabha MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty.
Speaking to reporters at his residence on Tuesday, he said that the people of Kundapur supported him regardless of their religion, caste, and creed. "I have not taken any decision in haste. I spoke in the core committee meeting as I was asked to do so," he said.
"Kiran Kodgi is the friend of my younger brother. He has been close to us since the time of my father. I will be happy if he is given an opportunity to contest. The decision has to be taken on a national level. I will support any BJP candidate," he said.
"I am grateful to BJP for providing me an opportunity to be MLA. I had decided six months ago not to contest elections. I have worked till the election model code of conduct was imposed," he said.
