Bantwal: One dead, three escape with minor injuries after car hits divider, topples

Bantwal, Apr 8: One person died and three escaped with minor injuries as the car in which they were travelling hit the divider after the driver lost control at B C Road on Friday April 7 night.

The deceased is identified as Sadashiva Acharya (77), a resident of Nandarabettu.

His grandson Akash, who was driving the car, son-in-law Suresh Acharya and son Ganesh Acharya escaped with minor injuries.

The four inmates in the car were returning after partaking in a religious programme at Puttur. The accident occurred near Ajjibettu Cross due to the negligence of the driver. All belong to the same family.

Sadashiva, who received grievous injuries on his head was taken to Perlia hospital, but he succumbed on the way. Melkar traffic SI Murthy visited the spot.

    There is continuous traffic on this highway, and I don't think the road is so bad as to someone so young hitting the divider without the vehicle being rashly driven!

    Unfortunately, for such a small district the amount of road accidents that occur everyday is shocking; probably the highest in India!! God save the travellers!

    The divider in not visible in the night no reflectors or marking on the divider. It is difficult to drive from B. C. road to Mangalore in the night.
