Udupi, April 12: “All the languages of the society are going towards hate and joining in hatred these days. Journalists should realise it and clean them. Journalists and others need to preserve the language that highlights the faults of others,” said senior author Vaidehi.
He was speaking after inaugurating the foundation day of the district Working Journalists Association as part of silver jubilee of Udupi District Working Journalists Association. The event was held under the aegis of Udupi Gandhi Hospital and Udupi Patrika Bhavan Committee.
“The society can survive with good authors, journalists and artists. How the journalists preserve their prestige during this complex situation is a challenge. The life of journalists is not like before as journalism has become a business now. A true and clean society is required. Journalists can make that happen,” he said.
Rajesh Shetty Alevoor presided over the programme. Founder treasurer and Mangaluru Vijaya Karnataka newspaper chief reporter Arif Moodbidri who unveiled the Facebook page of the sangha spoke about the foundation day.
Former presidents of the sangha, Dinesh KIni Alevoor, Kiran Manjanabailu, Jayakar Suvarna and Ganesh Prasad Pandelu were felicitated. Indian Federation of Working Journalists' national committee member Arun Kumar Shiroor, Karnataka Working Journalists' Association state committee member Kiran Manjanabailu and Patrika Bhavan convener Ajith Aradi were present.
Silver jubilee committee convener Mohammed Sharif Karkala welcomed and gave an introduction. Udupi district Working Journalists' Association chief secretary Nazir Polya rendered the vote of thanks. Treasurer Umesh Marpalli read the letter of felicitation. Founder member Dinaker Bengre compered the programme.
