Udupi, Apr 13: Cases are registered against Congress and AAP candidates of Udupi constituency for violating election code of conduct and displaying flex banner.
According to the case filed in city police station by flying squad officer Roshan Kumar, according to the information received from Udupi taluk election section, two flexes were hoisted at around 12.15 pm on the afternoon of Thursday in front of Aam Aadmi Party office at Nidhi Homes near Kalsanka junction of Shivalli village. The flexes, which are 10 feet in length and four feet wide has the photograph of AAP party leader Kejriwal with broom, the symbol of the party in his hand. It is put up without any prior permission from concerned authority by probable candidate of AAP for Udupi legislative constituency Prabhakar Poojary Thottam. This is clear violation of code of conduct.
In another case, two plastic flexes of nine feet length and three feet wide are installed on two arecanut tree poles in front of Congress Bhavan at Nayarkere Road of Moodanidamboor village of Udupi taluk. In both flexes it is written that 200 units of free electricity for every household, Congress guarantees Grihalaxmi, Rs 2000 for every family head per month, Congress guarantees Annabhagya, 10 kg of free rice per person every month, Yuvanidhi every month free unemployment allowance Rs 3000 for graduates and Rs 1500 for diploma holders. The flex has the photograph of Prasadraj Kanchan, who is projected as the Congress candidate of Udupi legislative constituency. It is also mentioned beside the photograph ‘Your vote for development.’ These flexes are installed without any prior permission from the concerned election authority and election code of conduct is violated by probably candidate of Congress Prasadraj Kanchan and president Block Congress committee president Udupi.
