Vasco, Jul 8: 71-year-old woman Ivone Paes was ruthlessly murdered and her husband 75-year-old Maximiano Paes got heavily injured when dacoits broke into their house in Alto Dabolim here.
The couple's daughter Cassia Noronha who lives in Panaji said she had spoken to her parents over the phone late on Wednesday July 6. The couple also have two sons, Mauvin, settled in Canada and George, in Bangalore.
The incident came to light when Mauvin recieved no response to his phone call early on Thursday July 7 and called up his sister.
The elderly couple's neighbour Seema Rao who went over to the bungalow saw that their car was parked in the garage and the day's newspapers and a milk packet was lying outside the front door.
The Verna police have tracked down 15 migrants living in the locality.
