Mangaluru: Jeppu Church celebrates its patrons, St Joseph’s Feast

Mangaluru, May 2: The feast of St. Joseph was celebrated at St Joseph Church, Jeppu parish on May 1 with Fr Clifford Fernandes as the main celebrant along with twelve con-celebrants and a very large gathering of the people.

In his homily Fr Clifford referring to the reading of the day said that St Joseph, the head of the Holy family becomes a model to be imitated. He stated that the three virtues that can be highlighted in St. Joseph was his docility to God’s plan, sensitivity to people’s feelings and readiness to undergo hardships to carry out God’s plan. St. Joseph, was a just, faithful and humble foster father of Jesus who carried out the will and plan of God in happiness. He urged the faithful to trust totally in God and do God’s will. He stressed on the need for patience and understanding among the members of the family. The Catholic Church promotes universality and brotherhood and all are invited to it, to worship God in oneness and fellowship,” he added.

The hymns for the mass were sung harmoniously by the Choir which added variety and gaiety to the Eucharistic celebration.

After the Mass, Richard Miranda and Lilly Miranda, a couple from Jeppu parish, were honoured for their immense contribution to Konkani literature and selfless service to the Parish community. John D Dais, Marceline Albuquerque and F.J. Mable were honoured for their invaluable services in all the social activities conducted by the Church for the betterment of the parish community. Adding to the gaiety of the occasion,a song of felicitation composed by Fr Maxim D’Souza, the parish priest of Jeppu church, was sung melodiously by the Choir was followed by a delicious and sumptuous meal prepared and served by the parish community to the people who had gathered for the celebration.

In his vote of thanks Fr Maxim D'Souza, the parish priest thanked the benefactors, donors, parish council members and all those who contributed towards the success of the parish feast celebrations.
