Udupi: Two killed in tree collapse during lightning, rain

Udupi, May 11: A sudden occurrence of thunder, lightning, strong breeze, and light rain startled the district killing two persons on Thursday, May 11.

Tragically, a couple traveling in an auto-rickshaw lost their lives when a massive tree toppled onto their vehicle near Majoor mosque, Kaup. Miraculously, the auto-rickshaw driver escaped unharmed.

The auto-rickshaw was en route from Shirva to Kaup when the incident took place.

Local residents promptly cleared the area by removing the fallen tree.

Kaup station police are currently in the process of gathering information regarding the deceased couple.
