Mangaluru, May 13: U T Khader, who is cruising towards victory in the Mangaluru constituency (Ullal) said that people have opted the Congress and have shown BJP its place.

He said, “People have voted for the intelligent party here. The public is suffering from price rise and unemployment. Voters of the state knows what BJP is and have shown its place.

“I will discuss with the party leaders over the setback of Congress in the coastal region.

"People have given a clean mandate to Congress in the state,” he said.

    I believe that people of most of the three districts prefer wallowing in the mud of obsurantism and communalism - education has no impact on their minds or thought. a lot of work is needed to rid that area of communal and hatred driven politics.

    Its sad to see our coastal people still have not learned lessons. And voted BJP again who is creating all these divisions among people and not giving good governance, One of my friend from Bangalore had called and told me that our people from coastal area can be mis-guided and mis-inspired just by the use of wrong Hindutva. And he is right, lets wake up next time. I am happy across state Congress has risen like a phoenix. I hope they give good governance and good growth and of course communal harmony.

    Congress should have given ticket to someone from majority community instead of JR Lobo..although mr lobo is a very nice and decent person, we needed a winnable candidate because it is more likely esp. in coastal karnataka, ppl tend to vote based on caste and religion, and a progressive person from the majority community would have garnered much more votes than a minority community person standing on Congress ticket in Mangalore South.....there were many billawa or bunt ppl who were capable of standing in place of JR lobo...Congress did a blunder here

    next time if congress gives ticket to anyone else than christian then christians should put all votes to nota...as the majority community does not vote for our candidate, that too only one in whole state, then why should we vote?

    If Congress given chance to any other young man who completed his MA in politics in the place of JR lobo people would have voted Congress. They gave chance to JR lobo once. He did nothing to Mangalore He will never ever win again. He is wasting his time.
